Delta Theta is lucky enough to have a CMNH hospital right around the corner: Kentucky Children’s Hospital. It is the only one in the state of Kentucky and it provides us the unique opportunity to truly see the impact of the money we raise. We love being able to support not only our national philanthropy as a whole but local families who use to the money for necessary, life saving medical treatments. In addition, Delta Theta is a proud supporter of Kentucky Refugee Ministries, our local chapter philanthropy! KRM provides resettlement services and community resources to refugees from all walks of life.
Each year, we host two big campus and community-wide philanthropy events: Cupcake Wars, benefiting CMNH & Bonnamu, benefiting KRM.
Cupcake Wars is an opportunity for teams to enter their best cupcakes and compete in various categories! There is a general admission fee that allows guests to eat as many cupcakes as they can. This past year, we had an additional booth that allowed people to pay $1 and cupcake any sister they chose in the face! Each year we bring in a special judge, a current patient of the Kentucky Children's Hospital, to help our panel of judges pick the winners in each category. Cupcake Wars is definitely a beloved campus event.
Bonnamu is a music and arts festival that features local musicians, craft booths, games, and tons of fun! It is hosted during May Term and provides a great outlet to relax and hang out with friends. We invite a representative for KRM to come and speak with all attendees about the impact that their donations will have on the Lexington community.
